Vigri is an Icelandic band with melodic & classical elements formed in Reykjavik 2009. The band was formed by the brothers Bjarki & Hans Pétursson and then later expanded into a six piece band. Atli Jónasson on drums, Þórir Bergson on guitar, bass, keyboards and brass, Egill Halldórsson on bass and keyboards and Friðrik Helgason playing percussions and electronics.
The band name is taken from the final ship that the brothers' grandfather ever sailed on as a captain (Vigri RE-71).
Vigri is currently finishing their debut album "Pink Boats" (Bleikir bátar) with Birgir Jón Birgisson (sound engineer) @ Sundlauginn (former Sigur Rós studio)
Due to the lack of finance to record in a studio, the brothers decided to travel around many of the small churches in Iceland's countryside to record their material.
The album's name derives from a vision that hunted the band during their recording sessions when the red Icelandic sunset would lie over the sea's horizon and turn all the boats from white to pink.
